We discuss the highlights of jazz history from 1900 to 1940. There will be examples of jazz developed throughout this period and we have swing dancers demonstrate the dances that were developed during these years. The dances include the Charleston, Balboa, Collegiate Shag and the Lindy Hop.
March 14, 2010 * 3:00 PM - THE ORIGINAL WILDCATS JAZZ BAND
The Wildcats will present the music of the Roaring Twenties, featuring artists such as Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton, and Paul Whiteman. The Wildcats will play some transcriptions of 1920s recordings and demonstrate the roots of jazz music and improvisation as performed and recorded in the 1920s.
